Abstract

Abstract

Tourism activities based on natural potential are one of the leading programs that are being promoted in various regions. This is because tourism activities have great economic potential and can affect developments in various sectors of people's lives. The existence of tourism awareness is needed to support the success of nature-based tourism development programs. This is because the knowledge, attitudes and skills of the community in general are still inadequate in terms of the benefits that can be obtained if there are nature-based tourist destinations in their environment. This study aims to reveal the constraints experienced by the Tourism Awareness Community in community empowerment activities based on nature tourism in Nagari Siguntur Tua, Pesisir Selatan Regency. This type of research is a case approach research. Data collection techniques combine instruments, interviews and observations as well as document analysis which are various factors or phenomena of social relations in certain situations, describing their uniqueness, as well as trying to offer in-depth understandings that have wider relevance. The results of the study indicate that there are 4 main factors that hinder the community empowerment activities carried out by the community; 1. Most of the TASMASDARWIS administrators do not understand their respective TUPOKSI, 2. The management of TASMASDARWIS is not solitary, 3. The management's knowledge and skills are still limited in promoting tourist sites, 4. There is still a lack of support from the local community.
